During the lock down Sky arts had a brilliant initiative: bringing Sky Artist of the Year to everyone all over the globe, but not just as viewers but also as contestants. People from all over the world submitted the most amazing portraits of the sitters, for a few hours, no matter where we were, we all were painting together in the same moment :)
Here are a few of the portraits I did.
"Bernardine Evaristo", acrylic on canvas. Painted in under 1h30mins just before deadline. I wish I had the time to dedicate it more time but I think it came out all right quite quickly
"Rankin", Quick Sketch, pastels on paper. Very good sitter @rankinarchive.

I love Mary's face, this is my favourite sitter of the PAOTW. And once more, another great conversation between sitter and painter... how relevant this is to create a bond that will most definitely show on the final work.
I like to change techniques and approaches every now and then to explore other possibilities.
This is was my first version of Mary Beard. Charcoal and pastel on paper.
